Scrap Metals
Purpose
The Scrap Metal Registration Program was created in 2008 to regulate businesses and individuals that deal in scrap metal in the State of Tennessee. The current requirements for the registration can be found in Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 62, Chapter 9.
Mission
The mission of the Scrap Metal Registration Program is to protect the public health, safety and welfare through the regulation of scrap metal dealers and scrap metal
The Scrap Metal Registration Program requires scrap metal dealers to register with the Department of Commerce and Insurance.
Scrap metal sellers are required to have a state or federally issued photo identification card and provide a thumbprint.
